The Myrrhbearer
Loved
May the black rocks offer you blooming flowers
And the deserts hide under the roses;
At your delicate feet the tigers lie down,
The lions tremble to see you approach,
And man, of your glory a new trophy,
More moved than to the chords of Orpheus' lyre,
To feel his heart revive in your appearance,
And be reborn crying to the sweet need to love!
- Vénus by Eliphas Lévi
A spicy and sensual ode to the patron saint of perfumers, Mary Magdalene, vilified and slandered across the centuries for embodying love. This collection is for those who seek the esoteric power of the feminine, ecstasy, grace, resilience, and the teachings of the seventh sephira. The Myrrhbearer is a powdery and warm floral amber nestled on a cozy vanillic base. All products in The Myrrhbearer line are hand-crafted on Fridays, guided by the loving grace of Lady Aphrodite.

An emblem of love, beauty, and secrecy, the rose holds a sacred space in cultural legends the world over and is used widely in love magick. With its lush petals, redolence, and shielding thorns, the rose is symbolic of the goddess in all forms - maiden, mother, and crone - sensual yet ferocious: velveteen yet piercing. This beguiling juxtaposition adds to the mysterious nature of the rose, which appealed to many mystical traditions. In some forms of Marian devotion, Mary is referred to as Rosa Mystica (Hidden Rose),
Myrrh
Commiphora myrrha
Element: Fire | Ruling Planets: Mars & Sun
The jewel-like resin of the myrrh tree carries with it deep sorrow, albeit a sorrow that is transmuted into radiant beauty and resilience. Several versions of myrrh's namesake, Myrrha, exist - all of them resulting in the gods taking pity on her and turning her into a tree, the same tree from which Adonis sprang forth only months later. Although the shame attached to her human form was transmogrified into the myrrh tree, she continues to shed sweet, fragrant tears that are highly valued for their symbolic association to resurrection.
